Thanks to everyone who's sent blue confirmation slips back or who has e-mailed us (if you're e-mailing BTW, it's really helpful to know about your accommodation and meals too in your summary!).
Some people have e-mailed me to check if their slips have then arrived and if their accommodation is OK and booked. I'm going to be really mean and not respond to these - we get too many! I will just say this - if we don't get your response, we will chase YOU! Trust me, it takes a lot of time setting up interview schedules and we want you to come so we will be e-mailing you if we don't hear from you. Otherwise, assume everything's fine and just come to Cambridge. Occasionally post goes missing or the invitation never arrives so we do check. We won't cancel your interview or anything if we don't hear from you - we'll just try and get to the bottom of what's going on and will sort things out with you.
A few of you will get your letter too late to hit the two week deadline - don't worry, just do your best. We'll cope! I generally start chasing about 10 days before a subject starts interviewing.

This might have been answered before, but how long do interviews last? I only have one, so does that mean it will be much longer than someone with two or three interviews?

Hi Jenny, would u mind telling about the format of the 2nd section interview for Engineering. I suspect the first section of the interview is discussing the maths that we will have for the written test. By the way, to what extend do I need to prepare if I have mentioned about reading magazines regularly.
This may be very silly to ask but here it goes!
My letter says
10:00 am - 10:30 am = Interview preperation...
Does this mean I will be given some sort of literature to read threw before hand or is it a time for that last bit of dutch courage!?

Our main job this week will be getting your files to interviewers for them to read in adcance and booking meals and accommodation for you all. If you do stay over, it's usually in first year rooms which will give you a little taste of student life here!
OK, more questions - it's what we like!
Interview length. Interviews are usually 30 minutes long. The exceptions are in maths where the main interviews are 45 minutes long and any intrview where you are ONLY seeing the Admissions Tutor (either Dr Jackson or Mr Mandelbrote). The latter are usually 20 minutes.
Engineering - not everyone has their interviews in the same order so the extra maths focus will be in the Symons/Woodland interview.
A point for everyone - if you have mentioned something in your personal statement which you have read or done, it may be discussed. It's really worth skimming voer articles or books you mentioned or reviewing any notes you made or essays you wrote on those books you mentioned just to refresh your memory. If you mentioned something you'd intended on reading, nows a good time to check it out of the library!!!
Interview preparation - very smart question. I'm going to post on this properly! However, the one time I saw someone who had over-indulged in the Dutch courage, things did not go well for them. Interviews and hangovers are, it turns out, a very poor mix! (It's OK, I know you were only joking!)

I just wanted to ask, on the interveiw schedule, there are two seperate interveiws listed. One interveiw appears to be with people involved with history (my subject) but the other is with an admissions tutor. What will be discussed in the interveiw with the admissions tutor? Also history or some other, more general, topic?

No, both History interviews are History focussed AND the Admissions Tutor for arts is an historian anyway so there is no escape! You may get the odd question on why you chose the course.
BTW, you will never be asked in any subject why you chose Peterhouse as a College as it's seen as being disadvantageous to Open candidates. You can however be asked about why you chose the Cambridge course and it's a good chacne to show you have a good understanding of what the course offers at Cambridge and maybe how it differs to other courses at other Universities (if it does).
