Deadline Update

Hi all,

It's been a while since we posted on here, but you'll be pleased to hear we're back with a few reminders/bits of advice for the various bits of paperwork we've asked you to send in.

First of all, as always, if you would like confirmation of receipt of post then please include a stamped and addressed postcard for us to return to you - I'm afraid we don't have time to email you all confirmations every time we open the post. If you don't hear from us, please assume everything is in order.

Financial Guarantees
All
You need to submit evidence that you either have enough savings or enough future income to cover the whole amount stated on the form, for all three/four years of your course.* For most people, this will involve sending in a copy of a parent's bank statement/savings account and/or a letter from their employer stating how much they earn per month/year or a copy of their P60/tax statement.

 *[Note that you do not need to prove that you have more than three years of funding if the additional year(s) are optional, i.e. for Maths, Computer Science, Natural Science, Engineering and Medicine. Evidence for four years of funding is only required for MML and the 4yrs Classics. But please also note that if you are applying for funding for your course (whether it's to Student Finance or another external body) you should apply for the maximum number of years that you are likely to be on the course.]


Overseas Students
If you are an 'Overseas' student then the deadline for you to submit your Financial Guarantee was Friday 18th April. If you haven't submitted yet, please do so as soon as possible. If you have, please assume everything is in order unless we contact you.


Home Students
If you are a 'Home' student then the deadline for you to submit your Financial Guarantee is this Friday 9th May. In order to prove that you are eligible as a Home student you MUST apply to your local student finance authority (even if it's for a value of £0) and this application must be successful. We require a copy of the letter from Student Finance confirming that your application has been successful (please DON'T send us a copy of your application; it is the confirmation letter we need). If your confirmation from Student Finance does not arrive in time for our deadline, please simply submit the Financial Guarantee by 9th May with an additional note saying that the confirmation letter is on its way.

Certificates

In your offer letter you were asked to provide us with certificates of every qualification declared on your UCAS application. If you have a Conditional Offer, please send us copies of your AS and GCSE certificates (or equivalent). If you have an Unconditional Offer, please send (by recorded delivery) your original A level certificates (or equivalent) - we will return these to you once we have checked them. The deadline for all certificates is Friday 9th May.

Reply at UCAS
Remember that if you would like to accept the offer of study that we have made then you must do so via UCAS. The deadline for this will vary depending on where you are in the world and when you heard back from your other institutions, but if you don't respond on UCAS then you will Decline the offer by default - so don't forget!


Bye Bye Carrie
Finally, tomorrow is Carrie's last day working at Peterhouse. At the end of this month she'll start working at the Royal Society of Chemistry as an Outreach Executive. We'll be very sad to see her go. She won't be replaced until September, which means I'm flying solo in the office until then, so please bear with me if I'm a bit slow to get back to your emails/phone calls.
